About me

Hi, I'm Josh Bevan! I am a writer and narrative designer, visual effects artist and creative technologist. I work in the film and games industries, and consult startups on AI technology and techniques. I have a hybrid creative/technical background in computer art and creative writing, and formal education in machine learning, software engineering, and film studies. I am all about speculative futurism and emerging technologies, both in my written art and in my technical pursuits!

Artist Statement

I've written historical fiction, family drama, capers and comedies, and consider myself a chameleon, though deep in my core I love writing worldbuilding-rich grimdark tales that mix the supernatural with cerebral, hard sci-fi. I write about future histories, alien sociology, virtuality, mirroring and dissimulation, hysteria, machine hallucinations, cybergothic accelerationism, morbid romances, speculative cosmology, speculative metaphysics, and tales of godlike intelligence explosions and exotic deep futures.
