VoidBraid has been a passion project of mine since late 2022. I wanted to document the severe and passionate struggle, in many ways my own, to align with the higher order operations of the universe.
To that end VoidBraid is about two godly influences: a primal chaotic system driven by sheer visceral motion (the VoidBraid) and a high order, simulated structure engulfed in pure language (the Narrator).
By way of this poetic device I wanted to express conflicts I had internally on the origin of life, the nature of simulations, perception, transmigration of the soul, and being an individual.
The film works in two alternating modes: the visceral and the conceptual. The visceral scenes are filled with intense bodily motion called forth by the emotional distress of meditations on death and the decay of the mind and body, and the conceptual scenes evoke the wonder and grandeur of an unappealed philosophy of life's emergence.
